Neal Dunnigan is a certified teacher (i.e. Shidoin) at-large in Birankai Aikido founded by T. K. Chiba Shihan. Neal holds the rank of yondan (4th Dan) and is an active member of the Birankai Teacher’s Council. Prior to his moving to Cork, Neal was the founder and chief instructor at Wheatbelt Aikido in Kingfisher, Oklahoma in the US.
Neil has a diverse Aikido background:
- His Shodan (1st Dan) was awarded by Koichi Tohei Shihan of the Ki-Society.
- His Nidan (2nd Dan) was awarded by Mitsugi Saotome Shihan of The Aikido Schools of Ueshiba.
- His Sandan (3rd Dan) was awarded by Peter Bernath Shihan of the US Aikido Federation founded by Yoshimitsu Yamada Shihan.
- In addition, Neal has traveled extensively, training and teaching at various dojos across the US and internationally, including at various Aikikai, Yoshinkan and Shodokan Aikido dojos.
Neal is also the author of two books on the martial arts: Zen Stories of the Samurai and Pointing at the Moon: Teaching Martial Arts to Change Lives.
